The reality of the legal profession is that it’s rarely just about the statutes in a book. It’s about people, their lives, and the weight of the responsibility you carry when they walk through your door. When you look at Andrew Abood’s career, it isn’t just a list of cases; it’s a continuation of a standard of excellence that has been the cornerstone of the Abood name in East Lansing since 1961.

Growing up as the eighth of ten children in a family of lawyers, Andrew learned early on that everything had a score and everything was competitive. Whether it was on the local golf courses or listening to his father formulate strategies at the dinner table, he developed an early understanding of persistence and preparation. The philosophy was simple: you aren’t getting better sitting around; you have to find that extra hour in the day to perfect the craft.

That dedication led him to the Michigan Supreme Court, where he clerked for Justice Michael Kavanaugh. It was a formative experience—a “Masters in Law”—where he learned the nuances of procedural and substantive law at the highest level. Today, that foundation informs every aspect of his practice, which focuses on the complexities of breach of contract disputes, construction law, and estate planning.

Andrew’s approach to the law is built on formulation and intensity. He views a legal matter much like a trial or a high-stakes game: winning is the only goal because the alternative is unacceptable. This drive has earned him consistent recognition from his peers and the community alike, though he remains focused on the work itself rather than the accolades.
